There are many advantages in setting up your own home based business such as: flexibility, setting your own schedule, eliminating the daily commute and spending more time with your family.

To be successful with your new home based business it is essential to create an efficient working space or office. I have provided 7 tips to help you keep an organized home office

1. List All Of Your Home Office Needs

Setting up you home office isn’t just a matter of finding a corner, or a room in your house and calling it an office. You need to make a detailed list of your basic needs such as your desk, computer, telephone, fax machine etc. Think about what sort of work you will be doing and what office equipment you are going to need to fulfill all of your home business needs.

2. Choose An Area For Your Home Office Space

Once you have made a list of all the office equipment you are going to need to operate your home business, you will have a better idea of just how much space is required. If you are sharing your house with a spouse and/or children or even a roommate you are going to need a space that offers some peace and quiet. If you have a spare room this is an ideal location. To concentrate on your work you need an area that can remove you from the noise from the rest of the house.

3. Balance Workspace And Storage

Many home office areas are limited for space, so you may have to be a little creative when it comes to your organization. Keep in mind that to work efficiently you need an uncluttered area that allows you to spread your work out. However there is also the problem of storage of files, stationary etc. Maybe you could build a desk with a filing cabinet or drawers set into it. This way all of your supplies are easily accessible yet they are not cluttering your desk top. The more organized your home office is, the more productive your work day will be.

4. Start With The Right Home Office Equipment

It is important to start right from the very beginning with the right equipment for your home office. It is important to have a good desk and an office chair that provides support and comfort. Since your computer will play such a huge role in your home business it is important to have one with sufficient memory to be able to store all of your files and data. Also high speed Internet connection is a must. It is hard to be efficient if you are forever waiting for pages to download on your computer.

5. Use A Separate Phone Line For Your Home Business

If your home business includes dealing with clients on the telephone it is necessary to have a separate phone line. When sharing the phone you run the risk of children or other family members answering the phone. To potential clients this does not give the impression that you are running a professional business. Also your home and business phone would be sharing the same answering machine. This could be very confusing to people who are ringing with business enquiries.

6. Establish Working Hours

Even though you are working from home you still need to treat it like a real job, because that is exactly what it is. To make money you have to work so it is important to schedule working hours for yourself. Setting yourself a daily schedule for your home business will help you to stay focused. Also by setting working hours you are less likely to get distracted by the drop in visits from friends and family. Hang a clock so you are able to keep track of the time. When working from home it is easy to be so absorbed in your work that you completely lose track of time. You have to set yourself a limit, finish off for the day at your set time and get straight back into it tomorrow.

7. Separate Work And Personal Time

When you have a home based business it is important to separate your work from your personal life. Keep separate banking and checking accounts for your business. If you mix personal expenses with business expenses it can cause an awful lot of confusion, especially when it comes to tax time. To avoid this confusion, and possible scrutiny from the taxation department, it is easier to keep it all separate from the get go.

An autoresponder is a system that sends follow-up messages to your opt-in subscribers automatically. But what are opt-in subscribers? These are people who have supplied their name and email address so as to subscribe to your newsletter or online reports.

You may have seen many sites with a sign up form requesting your details, and this is the autoresponder at work. Once you have signed up you will receive a welcome message requesting that you click on the link to confirm your subscription. Once confirmed, this means you are now an opt-in subscriber.

An autoresponder is a tool that your home based business cannot do without, especially as your customer or subscriber list grows. Keeping up with the follow up emails can be a very daunting task. Your autoresponder stores all of your subscribers information and handles all follow up messages without you even having to think about it. This allows you time to get on with other aspects of your home business.

Now finding an autoresponder service is a fairly simple task. By typing “free autoresponder” into your Google toolbar you will presented with many options. Personally I find GetResponse to be a very reliable service and very easy to use.

If you are a “newbie” with no HTML experience, make sure you look into which autoresponder service you use. There are many that allow you to enter your articles in standard text. This is just one of the reasons why I do like GetResponse, just for the sheer simplicity.

Now before going any further you will need to create a series of articles. This will be your newsletter that gets emailed out to all of your opt-in subscribers. Generally your articles should provide information about your products or services. People are always looking for answers or solutions, no matter what type of product they are looking for. Therefore you could provide practical “How To” articles, subtly pointing to your website for their solution.

Maybe you have a number of different websites, all offering different products. Well that’s ok, your autoresponder will allow you top set up a different campaign for each of your sites.

Now that your autoresponder is set up it is time to get to work - go find those customers!

This is part 2 of the Create A Successful Home Based Business series, find your passion. Now that you have the mindset of a successful business owner, it is time to choose the right type of business to suit your experience and your personality.

Find a quiet place to site down and relax, where you will not be interrupted. Then start making a list of all the things that you enjoy doing. These could be things you already have an interest in, your hobbies or something you are really passionate about. By choosing a subject for your home based business that you already enjoy doing will make your road to success so much easier.

Once you have put together your list, start by picking the top five and think about how you could turn these into a home based business.

Before you start though, it may be wise to check if there is a demand for your chosen business subject. For example, cooking may be one of your passions at the top of your list. Type words such as cooking, learning to cook, recipes etc.into your search engine toolbar and see how many results are presented. If you find there are a number of sites promoting this subject, then it is safe to say this is a niche with a high demand.

Many new home based business owners will start out by selling marketing products. Now there is still money to be made in this field if this is where your interests lie. However, it will be much easier to succeed with non marketing products.

Your niche markets, such as cooking, dog training, losing weight or whatever it is that you show a passionate interest in, are going to be an easier market and therefore an easier way to make a living.

There are hungry markets for particular niches and once you have tapped into this niche you can start giving your target audience exactly what they are looking for.

Always be true to yourself and stick to what you enjoy and love. This is the key to becoming successful with your home based business.

All affiliate marketers are looking for a market that will be successful and pay them a modest paycheck. Often they think there is some sort of magic formula available that will turn them into super affiliates over night. However, there is no magic formula. Just dedication, patience and good marketing practices.

There are many tactics that have worked in the past with affiliate marketing, and these tried and true methods are still working today. By following these top three marketing tips you will be able to survive and excel in the affiliate marketing world.

What are these three tactics?

1. It is not a good idea to lump all of your affiliate products together on one website. Every one of your products needs to have its own unique website. This is a little more costly in the beginning since you have web hosting for each site, but in the long run it will prove to work to your advantage.        So your visitors can have an understanding of what your product is, and what it will provide for them once they have purchased, it is a great idea to include a product review. Another great selling point is to include testimonials from people who have already purchased the product. Having proof that the product has actually been beneficial to others gives your visitors the peace of mind that they are not about to be ripped off!

Your website should include articles that highlight the use of your product. Make your pages interesting and compelling, pointing to the special points and benefits that your product provides. The customer should want to keep on reading, to find out all that they can and then in all likelihood make a purchase.

2. Everyone loves to get something for free, that is why it is a great marketing tactic to give away a free report or e-book. Try and position this at the top of your website so that it can’t be missed. You may also want to add a sign up form for your newsletter. Research shows that a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with prospects.

When people visit your website one of two things can happen; either they will buy your product or they will leave, probably never to return again. By having these people signed up for your newsletter, they will be subtly reminded about what they will gain from making the purchase. However, do not make your newsletters a direct sales pitch. Direct people towards specific reasons why to buy the product.

These reasons could focus on how your product will make life easier and more enjoyable for the purchaser, how your product is able to resolve a problem etc. To inspire people to actually open your emails make sure the subject line has a compelling title, but try not to use “free” as you email will be blocked by spam filters.

3. Get the kind of traffic that is actively searching for the products you are selling. If the people who are visiting your website have absolutely no interest in what you are selling then it is very unlikely that you will make a sale. Write articles for publication, then submit them to article directories that focus on the subject of your target audience.

To gain maximum benefits from article submission try to write and submit a minimum of two articles per week. By continually submitting articles you can generate at least 100 visitors to your site each day. This is not a difficult tactic, it just requires some time and effort to write and submit your articles. But the effort you put into marketing your website will be well worth it.

Not all affiliate marketers achieve success, but you have to tools and know how to survive. By following these three tips for all of your affiliate programs you are setting yourself up for a very a very profitable career.
